Who We Are
Mary Kolb, DVM
Dr. Mary Kolb
Dr. Mary Kolb is a 2011 Cornell graduate and has 10 years’ experience treating multiple species including dogs, cats and horses. She has traveled the world with her husband, where she continued her veterinary career in multiple countries. She was also a carriage horse vet in New Orleans.
When Dr. Kolb and her husband had their first child, they decided they wanted to be closer to their families. So in 2015 they loaded up and moved Florida.
In January of 2018, Dr. Kolb and her family moved to a 40-acre farm in Brooksville, Florida, near the Centralia clinic. Dr. Mary enjoys nature and the great outdoors. She loves caring for their farm animals, beehives, blueberry fields.
Although Dr Kolb lives in Brooksville, she to commutes to The Animal Clinic of St. Petersburg 2-3 mornings per week (one of those mornings is a Saturday) to care for her beloved clients and their pets in “the Burg” who are just not willing to let her go.
Dr. Kolb is excited to begin this new adventure at our new clinic. Being closer to home means she can be more available to her family.
She is also eager to begin providing medical care for the beloved pets of her new clients in the Brooksville community.
Libby Compton, CVT / Owner
Libby has been a veterinary technician for nearly 28 years at the Animal Clinic of St Petersburg. She became a fully credentialed CVT in 2010.
In 2013, the veterinarian she worked for decided to retire and sell the practice. Libby didn’t want to see the practice go to one of the big veterinary corporations. She didn’t want to disrupt the stability of the practice or alienate their St Petersburg clients who depended on them to care for their beloved pets, so she purchased the St. Petersburg practice herself. In the years since she bought the practice, it has evolved into a wonderful, thriving and happy home for 2 veterinarians and a several well-loved staff members.
Libby and her husband have a 19-acre hobby farm in Brooksville, Florida where she cares for her own menagerie of pets and livestock. Living in Brooksville meant that Libby had to make the long commute through heavy traffic from Brooksville to the St Petersburg clinic at least 5 days a week. She dreamed of having a rural, companion animal veterinary practice closer to home, so a few years ago, she and her husband created one in their own home.
In 2015 Libby hired Dr. Mary Kolb and together they have been providing compassionate veterinary services in the Brooksville and St Petersburg clinics.
In 2021, as part of a long-awaited dream, Libby relocated her small home-based practice to a new and bigger clinic in Brooksville, Florida on Centralia road.
Libby looks forward to continuing to serve people and their pets in the Brooksville community with kindness and compassion like no big corporation can do!
Sarah Baker, CVT, Practice Manager
Sarah joined the Animal Clinic of St Petersburg team as a Certified Small Animal Massage Practitioner in 2016, but quickly became much more than that. During her time there she attended college to become a veterinary technician. In 2020, Sarah graduated from the Veterinary Nursing program at St. Petersburg College is now a fully credentialed CVT.
Sarah’s love for animals encompasses her entire life. She has her own variety of pets at home, including dogs, cats, chickens, a corn snake, hermit crabs and a pot belly pig named “Hamigail”. Sarah and her family also have an aquaponics farm complete with beehives, which has become quite a fruitful venture.
Sarah is very dedicated to The Animal Clinic practices where she works closely with Libby and Dr. Kolb to care for pets and to get the new Centralia clinic up and running. She is committed to providing a great experience for clients and pets alike.
