Who We Are

Mary Kolb, DVM
Dr. Mary is a Cornell alumnus, having graduated in 2011. She then traveled the world with her husband, working in various veterinary situations abroad. When she moved back to the United States, she focused on equine work for a little while before becoming a mother and making the switch to small animal medicine. Dr. Mary settled her family down in Florida and started working with us at our original St. Petersburg location in 2015.
As her family grew, she decided to move to Brooksville and started a small homestead. She continued working with us in St. Petersburg. After commuting for a couple of years, Dr. Mary was very relieved when we opened our current location closer to home.
While she may not work on horses anymore, she still very much enjoys spending time with and riding her own horses. Dr. Mary spends a lot of her time outdoors – she has a green thumb and is a great gardener; she is also a very talented knitter. Her family has grown to four wonderful daughters, dogs, cats, horses, snakes, and leopard geckos.

Libby Compton, CVT / Owner
Libby started her path as a veterinary technician over 30 years ago at our original location in St. Petersburg. Providing the best medical care to patients is something she developed a passion for, so in 2010 she graduated from St. Petersburg College and became a Credentialed Veterinary Technician. Not long after becoming credentialed, in 2013, the veterinarian she worked for decided to retire and sell the practice. Libby did not want to see the practice she loved fall into the hands of a veterinary corporation, so she made the big decision to buy the practice herself to keep the same standard of care her clients and patients came to expect. She ended up not just sustaining the practice, but creating a thriving facility with two vets to provide quality and compassionate care for longtime and new patients alike.
Despite working in St. Petersburg, Libby had been living in Brooksville, commuting back and forth five days a week. With the experience she developed growing her one practice, she decided to open a brand-new practice much closer to home and started making plans for The Animal Clinic of Centralia. After battling county regulations and the beginnings of the Covid pandemic, she was finally able to open our current Brooksville location in 2021.
Libby lives with her husband, dogs, cats, horses, and cows, and when she isn’t busy running a business she tries to find time to relax and really enjoys camping.

Sarah, CVT/ Practice Manager
Sarah joined the team at our original St. Petersburg location in 2016 as a Certified Small Animal Massage Practitioner. She quickly realized she wanted to do more with animal care and became trained as a veterinary assistant. Loving veterinary medicine, Sarah attended St. Petersburg College’s Veterinary Nursing Program and became a Credentialed Veterinary Technician in 2020. Not long after becoming credentialed she helped open this Brooksville location!
Not only is she one of our CVTs, but she is also our Practice Manager who envisions herself obtaining her Bachelor’s in veterinary nursing to provide the best care possible for her furry patients as well as their owners. Sarah has a real competitive spirit, and will go to any length to provide you with the best possible experience here at The Animal Clinic of Centralia.
Spending her whole life with pets, Sarah has a deep passion for animals of all kinds. Her life is full of dogs, cats, snakes, lizards, chickens, rats, a frog, a cockatiel, a dove, a giant tortoise, and a pig. Along with her beloved pets, Sarah lives with her husband and two wonderful children. When she has free time she is an avid reader, and enjoys knitting and hiking.

Pappi, Meowdical Director
Around the time we were opening our practice, we received a call from an acquaintance about a property that was foreclosed on with a large colony of cats. The realtor working to prepare the property for sale was planning on using rat poison, which would have also poisoned the cats. We worked quick to collect as many cats and kittens as we could who we then provided care to and adopted out. Among these cats was Pappi who couldn’t quite find a home, so he was adopted by us to be a clinic cat.
Pappi provides us with so much joy. He is always there to help boost our spirits with a purr, a slow blink, and a body rub. Pappi loves greeting clients, though he seems to be really good at picking the clients who are allergic to cats (we apologize for his selection process)! Aptly named, Pappi absolutely loves seeing kittens. Whenever he hears a kitten crying he comes running to check and make sure that baby is okay.
We consider Pappi to be a member of the team who we love working with, and we hope you love seeing him too.
